❌ Fake! Every time someone famous dies, we are treated to their so-called "last words", letters, emails, etc. Most of the time, these are completely fake! We're quite familiar with this phenomenon — remember the Steve Jobs "last words" hoax that we debunked more than 20 times? Will this farewell letter become the new social media chain posts? The Association of Catholic Priests says this particular letter attributed to Pope Francis is fake: https://associationofcatholicpriests.ie/pope-francis-reflecting-from-hospital/ It cannot be found anywhere on the official Vatican website either: https://www.vatican.va/content/vatican/en.html Furthermore, Pope Francis was struggling to speak or act in his final days due to lung disease — how could he have possibly written such a long letter? Here are his actual last public words, from Easter 2025, one day before his passing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MklrBE-SLf8 And according to Snopes, those words have been circulating online since at least 2014 — long before Pope Francis was even ill: https://www.yahoo.com/news/fact-check-no-evidence-pope-120700667.html Can we please honour people by remembering them truthfully, rather than by spreading fake tributes?
