Le Leviathan de 1953

In the salty haze of 1953, off the rugged coast of New England, a band of weathered fishermen set sail aboard the Calder’s Wake, a creaking trawler that had seen better decades. The sea was restless that morning — not angry, but watchful, like an old beast blinking open its eyes. Captain Elias Brant, a man carved from salt and sorrow, manned the helm with his knuckles white on the wheel. His crew — silent, superstitious men — cast uneasy glances at the fog-drenched horizon. They weren’t chasing cod or mackerel this time. They were hunting something older, deeper. Something that had dragged nets to the bottom and cracked hulls like crab shells. They called it Leviathan, half in jest, half in warning. No one who spoke of it did so after nightfall. And yet here they were — not for fame, not for fortune, but for vengeance. Something had taken Brant’s brother two weeks prior. Only his boat had washed ashore, its planks splintered, reeking of brine and blood. The ocean gave nothing freely. But today, it might give back a monster.

In english : ❌ Fiction The image and text search led us to different social media networks, but never to press articles. The earliest trace of this story inspired by Moby Dick dates back to May 2024, when nobody took the bait. It is clearly presented as fiction in the link below. https://cvc.li/iQFEz The photo looks suspicious to us, both in terms of the shark’s size and the jaw that magically stays open. The largest identified great white shark, Deep Blue, measures 6 m, with a jaw of about 90 cm. The number of teeth and their spacing also seem questionable. https://cvc.li/sBPEt https://www.instinct-animal.fr/grand-requin-blanc/ https://cvc.li/gZnfz For sashimi lovers, the story resurfaced in May 2025, in both shark and octopus versions. https://se.pinterest.com/pin/328692472824938913/
