The Power of Infrastructure: Lessons from the Roman Empire
As I reflect on the achievements of the Roman Empire, I’m struck by one of its most lasting legacies: the roads. Built over 2,000 years ago, many of these roads are still visible today. They weren’t just pathways—they were strategic lifelines, connecting people, enabling trade, and supporting defense.
What can we learn from this ancient infrastructure?
1. Long-Term Vision: The Romans invested in something that would serve generations to come. In our work, are we building solutions with longevity in mind?
2. Reliability & Strength: Roman roads were famously resilient. Similarly, building a solid foundation—whether in business or personal growth—ensures we can weather any storm.
3. Connecting People: Just like these roads connected the empire, strong networks and relationships in today’s world are invaluable.
The Romans may no longer rule, but the foundations they laid still serve as reminders. What foundations are we building today that will last?

✅ TRUE
🛣️ The Roman Empire built a colossal road network, stretching approximately 150,000 km across Europe, Asia, and North Africa. This communication system greatly contributed to:
➡️ Facilitating trade
➡️ Enabling rapid movement of armies
➡️ Spreading Roman language and culture
➡️ Maintaining control over conquered territories
🗺️ The saying "All roads lead to Rome" originates from this star-shaped network composed of 29 main routes converging towards the capital.

🚗 While the Romans are well known for their remarkable innovations, comparing the longevity of modern roads to ancient ones, as suggested by the photo, makes no sense: today's mobility patterns are completely different from those of the past, particularly due to climate change, poor road maintenance, and repeated heavy truck traffic https://cvc.li/StbBT
