Hahaha When Albert Einstein met Charlie Chaplin in 1931, Einstein said, "What I admire most about your art is its universality. You do not say a word, and yet the world understands you." "It's true." Replied Chaplin, "But your fame is even greater. The world admires you, when no one understands you."

❌ Not quite. There are different versions and origins for this quote. However, in an article Charlie Chaplin wrote for Woman’s Home Companion in October 1933, he shares this interesting remark made by one of Einstein's two sons. One of the son checking both autographs (Chaplin's and his father's) said to Chaplin : “You are popular, because you are understood by the masses. On the other hand, the professor’s popularity with the masses is because he is not understood.” Chaplin doesn’t specify whether the quote came from Hans Albert or Eduard, Einstein's sons.
