🟧That’s right (at least partially), Burberry, in 2018 (and not recently as the video suggests), got caught red-handed for burning millions of unsold goods https://tinyurl.com/j8e6ztff. Therefore, facing strong criticism, the company had no other choice than to end this practice https://tinyurl.com/2my983hp. No evidence of Burberry still burning garments were found after 2018.
As of the other brands quoted in the article :
✅H&M: In 2018, S.Persson, the son of H&Ms founder admitted that the company "rarely" burns clothes. https://tinyurl.com/2p9cmu72. And apparently they keep doing it. 8% of the unwanted items dropped by customers, at their collect points, are burnt (under the pretext of contributing to energy production) https://tinyurl.com/3vs6eyz6
✅Nike: The results of Unearthed investigation (in August 2022) points out that Nike’s suppliers do proceed to clothes’ incineration https://tinyurl.com/2p9s2pj8. Nike was given the chance to reply to the investigation, but has given no answer so far
✅GAP: In 2022, the LICADHO found burnt waste, in Cambodian’s brick factory, with 19 international brands including GAP https://tinyurl.com/5n7ft6b6
❓Zara: As for Zara, we couldn’t find any proof incriminating nor exonerating the company.
